Special Threat Body Armor Plate Set | Guardian STP by HighCom

The HighCom Guardian STP (Special Threat Plate) is a Level IIIA stand-alone soft armor plate independently tested to meet NIJ Standard 0108.01, with additional testing against handgun special threats beyond the standard NIJ IIIA round set. It provides protection against high-velocity handgun rounds including .357 SIG FMJ, .44 Magnum SJHP, and handgun special threat rounds that exceed what standard Level IIIA testing covers.

Constructed from super-lightweight UHMWPE, the STP achieves Level IIIA ballistic performance at a significantly lower weight than comparable hard armor plates. The material has positive buoyancy — the plate floats in water — making it well-suited for maritime and water operations, or any scenario where weight and buoyancy matter. It provides standalone soft armor protection that can be worn independently or layered within a plate carrier system.

The Guardian STP is available in shooter cut, swimmer cut, and SAPI-M profiles in a range of plate sizes. Each plate is NIJ Standard 0108.01 tested by an NVLAP-accredited laboratory. If you need handgun-rated protection in the lightest possible package with independent laboratory validation, the STP covers that requirement without the weight penalty of a full Level III or IV hard plate.
